UMass Lowell’s annual DifferenceMaker Idea Challenge gave us an opportunity to showcase our mobile app platform – WordPro – that we were developing as part of our MS ITE capstone requirement. WordPro made it to the finals (top 10 of 50 contenders) and was awarded $2,000 in funding to advance the project. The WordPro demo for the English / Afrikaans app is available in the Apple and Google stores.

Latin honors are awarded to Baccalaureate degree recipients who have achieved a high cumulative grade point average (GPA) and completed their school’s minimum number of points in residence. The GPA cutoffs for each Latin Honors are determined by the combined GPA distribution from the preceding academic year, all graduation moments included. For my graduating year the cum laude cutoff was 3.668. My final GPA was 3.8.

Top-ranking Baccalaureate candidates and graduates are named University Honors Scholars as a Commencement honor. Recipients receive a gold honors tassel to be worn during Commencement Exercises and an individually inscribed Founders Day Certificate that commemorates the incorporation of New York University. Eligibility for the honor is determined by the Office of the Registrar. The award requires a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.500 or higher based on a minimum of 30 credits in courses taken at NYU.

I was inducted into the NYU Chapter of ASL on April 15, 2011. Eligibility requirements for membership in the Alpha Sigma Lambda Honor Society were two-fold: a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.7 and a nomination from your university. In addition to being inducted into this honor’s society I also received one of the eight $1,600 scholarships awarded that year.
